ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the new control technique for bidirectional battery chargers. The increase in the number of electric vehicles has encouraged the growth of vehicles connecting grid technology. To implement the vehicle connecting grid technology, we require electric vehicle battery chargers that allow bidirectional power transfer between power grids and electric vehicle batteries. The performance of the bidirectional AC-to-DC controller is verified by simulation process. The implementation of the vehicles connecting grid technology requires electric vehicle battery chargers that allow bidirectional power transfer between a power grid and an electric vehicle battery. The bidirectional battery charger with direct current control strategy is used for vehicle-to-grid operation, which is capable of performing charging and discharging operations. The results show that the proposed control strategy performs well and achieves high efficiency in all four operating modes.
