ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an integrated power electronics interface for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), which has a novel eight-switch inverter and an interleaved DC/DC converter. The proposed integrated charger has been charged through five basic modes, namely, motor drive, AC/DC battery charging, regenerative braking, DC/DC battery charging, and vehicle to grid. The main objective is to present an integrated configuration and to demonstrate its feasibility for PHEVs conversion. The trends and future vehicle strategies and the function of power electronic subsystems are described. The chapter provides an non-isolated integrated bidirectional DC-DC converter for interfacing with the vehicle battery to the DC link in both of charging modes and discharging modes. It also provides a novel eight-switch inverter acts as a bidirectional DC/AC converter, and the bidirectional interleaved DC/DC converter has been analyzed, the output response of which has been presented to achieve the integrated power electronics interface for PHEV application.
