ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the various feeding resources for dairy animals. Roughages contain more than 18 percent crude fiber. Succulent roughage are the feedstuffs with moisture 60 to 90 percent. The chapter also discusses different tree leaves, root crops, leguminous green fodder, and non-leguminous green fodder such as fodder of Jowar, Maize, Bjara, Oat, Barley, Sudan grass, Napier grass, Para grass, and Pauna. It lists out different feed stuff such as dry roughage hay including leguminous hay and non-leguminous hay. The energy rich feed stuff are: grains and seeds, mill byproducts, roots, and molasses. The protein rich feed stuff are classified as animal origin, marine byproducts, avian byproducts, plant origin feed stuff, non protein nitrogenous substances and single cell protein feed stuff. The chapter reviews different feed supplements and feed additives.
