ABSTRACT
Biliary colic and renal colic management will depend on the severity of the pain and our local access to scans. If there is no haematemesis/melaena and the patient is well, suspected peptic ulcer disease can be referred routinely for endoscopy via local protocols. Pyelonephritis can be treated in the community if the patient is afebrile and doesn’t have significant pain. Due to the regulation of controlled drugs, it is unusual for practices to keep morphine. Inflammation/ulceration starts in the rectum and extends proximally to different degrees in different patients. The drugs most frequently used require monitoring.
