ABSTRACT

The transportation of the brooders from the grow out farm ponds to the hatcheries and the seeds from the hatcheries to the farms is unavoidable in fish culture. Moreover, since the market demand of live fishes is more, the harvested fishes must be transported live in good conditions to the markets. Utmost care is required for the transportation of the brooders to the hatcheries. The selected brooders must be acclimatized in cement tanks or small hapas for at least six hours without feeding. Provision of running water environment or use of showers is recommended for acclimatization. Fish seeds must be transported from the hatcheries to the grow out ponds for stocking. A tube from the oxygen cylinder is then introduced into the bag and the oxygen is then drawn from the cylinder through the tube in such a way that its forms bubbles through the water to prevent oxygen deficiency.
