ABSTRACT

Common carp brooders which had grown about 1-2 kg can be selected from the farm for the development of broodstock. Indian Major Carps such as Catla, Rohu and Mrigal will breed in the monsoon season from June to September. At the end of the summer and before the start of monsoon common carp will be ready to spawn. Before one month of the breeding season, male and female brooders should be stocked in and maintained. In this method, male and female should be selected at the ratio of 1:1 for induced breeding technique. To breed the common carp, induced breeding hormones should be injected to the fish as per the recommended dosage and released in breeding hapa. Fertilized eggs will be yellow in colour and unfertilized eggs will be in white colour. Then these nylon fibres with eggs should be taken out and put in the Chinese hatchery.
