ABSTRACT

Marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) is a low-grade (indolent) B-cell lymphoma that arises from memory B-cells present normally in the marginal zone of secondary lymphoid tissues. This group of lymphomas include nodal marginal zone lymphoma (NMZL), extranodal lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphatic tissue (MALT lymphoma), and splenic marginal zone lymphoma (SMZL). Extranodal MZLs are presented in chapters dedicated to specific body sites (MALT lymphoma of the gastrointestinal tract in Chapter 44, primary cutaneous MZL in Chapter 45, and SMZL in Chapter 49).
