ABSTRACT
Steel reinforcement and structural steel sections are usually used as construction materials. Generally, reinforced cement concrete structures are preferred for buildings as well as infrastructural projects and hence steel reinforcement gain importance as construction materials. As steel reinforcements are designed to take the loads, quality control is imperative to choose the appropriate grade with the desired properties. To recheck the learning outcome of the chapter, a few exercise questions are given at the end of the chapter. The tensile strength of steel, bend and re-bend test for steel and testing for the durability of steel reinforcement specifically against corrosion are covered in this chapter.
