The main climate change mitigation measures related to energy consumption in households are increasing the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency. The objectives of the National Strategy for Climate Change Management Policy of the Republic of Lithuania are in line with the objectives and priorities of the European Union (EU) in this field.

The chapter deals with climate change mitigation policies in Lithuania targeting energy consumption in the energy sector. The detailed analysis of climate change mitigation policies in the energy sector is provided and grouping of policies is done according to the main areas: promotion of renewables and promotion of energy efficiency are provided. The main focus in the energy efficiency area is allocated to policies and measures aiming at promoting renovation of multi-flat buildings in Lithuania as this sector distinguishes itself with the highest energy savings and the potential for greenhouse gas emission reduction.
