ABSTRACT

This case study will consider the challenges of implementing a PLM system by Focus Brands, a leading design, sourcing, and distribution company which special-ises in sports clothing, footwear, and accessories. The chapter will open by providing an overview of PLM systems, along with details of the company involved in this case study, namely Focus Brands. The chapter will move on to outline the reasons driving the implementation as well as details of the PLM system selected by the company. Insight of the current practice the company has undertaken with its chosen PLM platform Bluecherry Next PLM system, developed by CGS, will be provided along with a SWOT analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the implementation. The chapter will close by providing useful recommendations to others undertaking a similar implementation process. The key contributors to implementation of the PLM system include Focus Brands employees Timothy Peck (Head of Design), Rebecca Minors (Design Team Manager), and investigating for this case study Jennifer Collinson (Production and Sourcing Manager).
