ABSTRACT

The chapter provides a definition for distributed intelligent systems (DISs). Three types of DISs are considered. A brief description of multi-agent intelligent systems is given and the main properties of intelligent agents (IAs) are described. The problems and tasks of collective interaction are described and the need for the emergence of new IAs is substantiated. The modern collective intellectual systems that exist in nature and which are characterized by different forms of organization are described. Ant colonies and bee colonies are described, and much attention is paid to the description of the collective movement of various animal colonies. The main forms of the behavior of colonies during collective interaction are presented.
