ABSTRACT

The chapter describes the basic principles of building colonies of people and animals as well as the principles of forming the population of modern cities. The main characteristics of a smart city are described, as well as the tasks that are solved in a modern smart city. Attention is paid to the description of the main functions that a smart city performs. The intelligent technologies used make it possible to predict the state of the entire infrastructure and, on the basis of this information, efficiently plan the entire sequence of events and works performed by the main automatic means implemented in the urban area. The emphasis is made on the use of biometric sensors in a smart city and their role in improving the comfort of residents and guests is described. From the totality of sensors, sensor networks are formed, which are critical components of smart cities, since the data they collect is fundamental to these services. Sensor networks provide automatic city functioning.
