ABSTRACT

Chapter 10 presents the vapor and advanced power cycles. It presents the Carnot cycle, an idealized cycle and its limitations as a practical case, and the basic Rankine cycle and its improvement of efficiency, reheat, and regenerative Rankine cycles. Cogeneration, combined cycle power plants (CCPP), and binary vapor cycles and their efficiency evaluation are presented. Moreover, the advanced power cycles such as organic Rankine cycle (ORC) and its ideal working fluids combined cycle power plant integrated with ORC and absorption refrigeration system, effect of operating parameters on combined cycle performance, integrated coal gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power plants, and power cycles for the nuclear power generation are presented elaborately.
