ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book focuses on specific processes and principles, one's organization can best leverage the resources for improvement activities, while rallying the organization around specific goals. It helps to improve the capability of one's organization's project management (PM) processes and business outcomes. The book describes project management maturity and offers a brief description of the PM Solutions. It also describes the process of assessing one's organization using this model, and provides best practices for using an assessment. The book defines the levels of project management maturity. It focuses on the ten project management knowledge areas specified in the Project Management Institute's standard, A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, Sixth Edition. It provides as complete a definition as possible, these knowledge areas have been broken down into their specific components.
