ABSTRACT

In Chapter 1, the authors included a section “The Challenge Facing Us.” In it, they framed the issues facing the project industry and promised to address them. In Chapter 16, they address each of those challenges and give actionable strategies and tactics to consistently achieve project success. The project success model gives a Complete Project Delivery model to follow. It includes a step-by-step method for implementing stakeholder alignment in each of the major project phases: planning, architecture and engineering, and construction and procurement. It also combines the hard systems and soft systems to safely manage the construction work, while optimizing production to produce project deliverables within expectations.

Essentially, this chapter binds together the concepts of leadership, ethics, aligned project delivery, productivity and optimization, and the traditional elements of project execution into a complete project success model. It is based on project experience from projects of all sizes. It is based on theories of human behavior and scientific evidence. It is based on the well-established principles of project execution. Finally, and most importantly, it works.
