ABSTRACT

To wrap up Part 1, the authors emphasize some aspects of leadership, which deserve to be highlighted because of their importance. The first reopens the discussion of the Steps of Leadership Development (which was started in Chapter 2) and completes the description of this process. This is an essential part of building a leadership culture on a project or within an organization. The second aspect gives an understanding of the little-known role that empathy can play in leadership. The third point of emphasis gives additional information on leading high-performance teams. It will prove to be extremely useful in formulating aligned project delivery. This aspect opens the door for a project to achieve extraordinary success. This is followed by a section that introduces the importance (and leadership challenge) of aligning all the parties on a project. Three case studies conclude the chapter. These illustrate aspects of project leadership and can be used to stimulate classroom discussions, small-group exercises, or homework assignments.
