ABSTRACT
NDT during the construction phase on Site is primarily used to test the welding quality of piping, tanks, spheres, and structures. ASNT-certified personnel are required for the performance and evaluation of NDT activities. Gamma-ray-based radiography is widely used in Oil and Gas construction industries, while X-ray is used in the Aerospace industry. Post weld heat treatment of welds is required for welding in alloy steels and higher thick items in carbon steel. NDT includes ultrasonic testing, gamma-ray radiography, X-ray radiography, liquid penetrant test, and magnetic particle test. NDT personnel with ASNT qualifications in Level 1 are for conducting a test, Level II for evaluating the test results, and Level III for Quality Manager Position.
