ABSTRACT

Engineering is classified into nine branches, of which the first one is Detailed Engineering (DED). It addresses the consequences of Contractor endorsing the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and verification of FEED prior to the start of DED. Contractor provides a flow chart on DED describing Owner’s participation in the turnover of key deliverables, and review and approval process that happens within Contractor’s organization and outside. DED is further divided into 14 disciplines, of which Process Engineering figures first, deliverables are identified for each discipline which are also called as task or activity in Level 3 Schedule. Similarly, remaining eight branches of Engineering are addressed: Procurement Engineering, Construction Engineering, Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning Engineering, Start-up and Performance Test Engineering, Operation Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Interface Engineering, and Field Engineering.
