ABSTRACT

In larger organizations, it is recommended that a trained individual be available for the supervisor/manager to consult with when problems cannot be resolved. In smaller organizations, the supervisor needs to turn to the administrator or senior manager for assistance when necessary. Many worthwhile employees have serious problems, and a supervisor who is able to help resolve problems at work or guide the individual into proper counseling has not only accomplished something for the employee, but has also done a good deed for the organization. The probationary period is just what it means: it is a time for the supervisor and management to watch the employee and determine if this person fits into the situation in an effective manner. The “Fundamental Management Information” section sets forth information on problem cases. The good supervisor recognizes that these problems occur and attempts to help the employees through these problems.
