ABSTRACT

A more positive approach to employee Occupational Health and Safety is by gathering data through various surveys, inspection records from the past as well as the present, and records of previous accident/incidents, incidents, and injuries. An occupational health and safety program should be developed by using Best Practices from other organizations, and competencies needed by employees to meet the Best Practices. Safety and occupational health specialists are concerned with employee personal equipment for their job, environmental issues such as ventilation, lighting, and equipment. They also conduct safety and emergency preparedness training for various industries. The supervisor/manager is affected by OSHA since he or she is the individual most directly responsible for the health and safety of the employees. Therefore, the supervisor/manager must not only be completely and totally aware of all of the standards that he or she must operate under, but also be able to spot potential hazards before they become real hazards.
