ABSTRACT

The mathematical techniques here discussed are differential equations of different types and their general solutions, particularly solutions and arbitrary constants. Solving the differential equations by power series method has also been included, which is somewhere required in quantum chemistry. It also consists of solution of matrices and determinants. Characteristic value problems, similarity transformation, and block diagonolisation of matrices have also been incorporated. Readers with knowledge of the above mathematical techniques can greatly increase their understanding of the principles of quantum chemistry/quantum mechanics. A number of references have also been provided for consultation. The chapter consists of a number of solved problems. Questions on concepts have also been added at the end of the chapter for the benefit of the readers.
