Turkey is one of the large size bird reared for fattening Demand of fattened Turkey is quite high in many countries during festivals and other ceremonial occasions. Turkey farming is more popular in the temperate countries. Some breeds of Turkey are also reared in many sub tropical countries. Small flocks can be also seen in some parts of Bharat. The carcass of Turkey is generally large, it is marketed in pieces. Demand of Turkey meat is very high on the occasion of Christmas in many countries. Meat of white Turkey is preferred. Before mid twenteenth century Turkey meat was a very rare food item and it was rarely available to common families. The turkeys are considered less intelligent due to a peculiar behaviour during the rains. Even during the rain storms the turkeys look up non reactive until they are washed away in the streams of rain water.
