ABSTRACT
These Saras is a large size tall bird of tropical plains commonly seen on the waste/ fallow lands in the cultivated areas of the Bhartiya sub continent. These are non –migrating birds prefer to live on the wet lands and near the water sources. It is also found in the north-east parts of Asia and Australia. The Saras is a tallest living flight bird, which pulled back its legs during flight. This species is conspicuously different from the other cranes for its red head and upper part of the neck on a grey feathered body. The bird is known for fidality.
