ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the rise of mobile esports as well as the creation and the growth of youth-, high school-, and college-level competitive gaming. It continues by looking at the formation and the development of esports associations and federations, including both national ones as well as international and continent-wide organizations. The chapter also provides information on a gamer’s potential “team” of professionals as well as examining some marketing and promotional considerations for social media and livestreaming. Specifically, the use of a competent public relations professional or another independent representative could be a tremendous asset to a gamer and could hopefully help them avoid some of the recent scandals that emerged as a result of an esports professional's conduct. The world of competitive video gaming and professional esports continues to evolve on a daily basis. In conclusion, as the esports global market continues to grow, additional legal matters will be determined and come to the forefront.
