ABSTRACT
The increase in digitisation and the challenges in security have created a great demand for cybersecurity professionals. There has been a 350% growth in the open cybersecurity positions from 2013 to 2021, and Cybersecurity Ventures predicts that there will be 3.5 million unfilled cybersecurity jobs by 2021. This chapter provides a high-level overview of the roles available in this field and their expectations and skills required. There are many roles from the Entry level to management that can provide comprehensive coverage. Most of these differ from each other in terms of the requirements, skills, and outcomes. Various organisations have provided a wealth of information and well-proven certifications that have established a standard and the foundation of what is needed for a successful digital detective or a practitioner. The chapter reviews some of the important certifications that can boost the positioning and career with information that can assist in preparing for digital detective.
