ABSTRACT

Data have always been an important component in everyone’s life. There are 2.5 quintillion bytes of data produced by humans every day, according to social media today, which almost shows up as 1.7 MB of data on an average, created every second by every person in 2020. The number of Internet connections, connected devices, social media applications, and video is a significant part of the increase. This chapter looks at the data that can lead to a variety of classifications based on the purpose. There are many sources from which data are collected, managed, and processed. The data can be classified into three types based on the purpose and usage: personal data, application data and behavioural data. A type of data that is becoming more mainstream is the behavioural data generated by the actions of the user using the application or by the responses of an engagement.
