ABSTRACT

In the case of construction projects, organizational framework is established and performed mainly by three parties: owner, designer/consultant, and contractor. Participation involvement of all three parties at different levels of construction phases is required to develop the project. The owner is the first member of the project team. The owner’s relationship with other team members and their responsibilities depend on the type of deliverable system the owner would prefer to go with. In construction projects, the involvement of outside companies/parties starts at the early stage of project development process. The owner/client has to decide which work to be procured and constructed by others. Every organization has their procurement strategy/system to procure services, contracts, and products from others. This chapter discusses selection method and procedure for design team, engineering, procurement, and construction contractor, project management consultant, and specialist consultant. It lists prequalification questionnaires and logic flowcharts for selection of different team members.
