ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the purpose of Program Benefits Management and the high-level tasks and activities that program managers should tackle pertaining to this performance domain. It discusses the three most important questions that program managers should ask pertaining to this domain. The chapter also discusses the key Program Benefits Management Skills. The goal of the Program Benefits Management performance domain is to enable the program to deliver the agreed benefits and results. To enable effective benefits management, program managers need to design and execute a series of processes that include benefits identification, analysis and planning, an implementation and delivery, transition to ongoing management, and sustainment. Programs can achieve many benefits for the sponsoring organization, and one of the key jobs of program managers is to direct the realization of these benefits. Benefits are typically initially identified in the business case.
