ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the purpose of Program Stakeholder Engagement and the high-level tasks and activities that program managers should tackle pertaining to this performance domain. It discusses the most important questions that program managers should ask pertaining to this domain. The chapter also describes the key Program Stakeholder Engagement Skills. The goal of the Program Stakeholder Engagement performance domain is to effectively manage expectations of program stakeholders. Program managers generally do have complete authority to make program-related decisions. A stakeholder is an individual, a group, or an organization that has the ability to influence or be influenced by decisions, actions, or results of a program. Armed with this knowledge, program managers can now develop a mutually beneficial engagement plan that would enable the development of positive working relationships. In addition to the skills that are more specific to the Program Stakeholder Engagement performance domain, program managers should also consider the more general business and management skills.
