ABSTRACT

GNSS has a variety of applications on land, at sea, and in the air. The GNSS technology has matured into a resource that goes far beyond its original design goals, exceeding all expectations. Today, scientists, sportsmen, farmers, soldiers, pilots, surveyors, hikers, delivery drivers, sailors, dispatchers, lumberjacks, fire-fighters, and people from many other walks of life are using GNSS in ways that make their work more productive, safer, and easier. Actually, the applications of GNSS are enormous. This chapter aims to discuss the applications of GNSS, such as surveying and mapping, navigation and tracking, and time related applications. Although the application areas of GNSS are vast, this chapter tries to briefly introduce almost all applications—scientific to commercial, space to sea, agriculture to military, animal to human.
