ABSTRACT

Seriplex is a control network designed for simple industrial control applications. It is the favored choice for simple devices like push buttons, valves, contactors, limit switches, etc. A single cable connects all the devices to save considerably on cabling costs. It employs intelligent modules that provide a link between inputs and outputs.

Seriplex can be configured to operate in master-slave and peer-to-peer versions. For the master-slave mode (also called mode 2), a host controller along with an interface card controls activities on the bus. For peer-to-peer mode (also called mode 1), data can be interchanged between devices without any host controller. Data and clock signals operate at 12 V and 4.5 V, respectively. This gives very good noise immunity. Seriplex system efficiency is very high—about 98%. It means that for 98% time, the system transports data.

Second generation Seriplex offers data integrity in the form of “digital debounce” and “data echo” features.
