ABSTRACT

The natural response of most engineering firms specializing in energy conservation and efficiency is to check back to see how long they have been in business and simply insert that number into the blank provided. Although that answer may be accurate, it is not really what the client wants to know. When the oil embargo hit our country in the early 1970’s, people were a pretty cocky breed. They had a president who believed that they could relieve the foreign manipulation of the economy by issuing edicts to reduce room temperatures, drive slower, and travel shorter distances. Opportunities like state agencies and public schools, which were once off limits to third party investment programs, today not only allow, but require guaranteed savings. An impressive number of authors have published the works describing their preferred methods for energy auditing and reporting.
