ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the access control to the next level: from understanding the locking mechanism to understanding the devices that control the lock. Placement of CCTV cameras outside should also consider placement of the lights in the parking lot relative to the camera location. These cameras are less expensive than digital cameras which process the signal and carry it digitally. Color cameras generally are more expensive and require more ambient light than black and white cameras. The capture card performs the important function of taking the analog signal from a camera and converting it to digital signals, then compressing the information so that it can be stored on the digital recorder's hard drive. As more and more cameras become digital cameras instead of analog cameras, and as broadband capacity increases, it has become possible to have one circuit or loop running through the facility with all the devices clipped onto the circuit.
