ABSTRACT

A door for one person to pass through at a time is called a personal man door. It is the most common of doors and they are used for exterior as well as interior doors in commercial, institutional, educational and residential buildings. A door that opens into the space to be protected is more secure than one that opens out because the door has what are called “stops” that hold the door. Pulling a door open does not allow for the advantage of the “stops.” A swinging personal door is either a “right hand” door or a “left hand” door. A door that is stronger than a wood door is the steel door. Some solid wood doors are clad with steel to make them stronger. The first is a door made from steel and welded onto a frame that becomes the leaf and the second is a solid wood door with a steel cover.
