Pumps are used to push water through the pipes and tanks. Tanks provide a storage space for water. Tanks can store fresh drinking water, hot water or raw, untreated water. It is important that the tanks keep the separate types of waters apart from each other. Plumbing codes are designed so that pipe systems do just that.
