ABSTRACT
This chapter is for the person that desires to participate in a formal energy awareness initiative. Every organization should try to utilize all the basic energy awareness critical success factors outlined in this chapter. The actual implementation methodology of the critical success factors will vary in different industries. The primary goal of the energy awareness critical success factors is to reduce energy expenses. The primary objective of the team is to influence people to use energy more responsibly, or simply: increase employee awareness of energy consumption and reduce energy costs without adversely impacting comfort or quality. Making energy awareness an integral part of business planning often yields the greatest benefits. Make financial goals personal, relevant, and easy to understand. People will take more ownership of goals, if someone else does not unrealistically impose them. Most employees will be surprised to learn the cost of energy and the amount of pollution they generate.
