ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the author overall purpose in compiling additional energy facts and quotes is to provide: an easy source of material for speaking or writing about energy awareness topics; a store-house of energy facts to simulate ideas, thought, and action; a quick source of additional inspiration and personal motivation that can be referenced periodically as the people motivation wanes; to expand on the concepts presented in this chapter in a quick and easy to read format. Knowledge of the environmental consequences of energy consumption can stimulate energy saving behavior. Atmospheric carbon dioxide has already increased to 380 parts per million, up from 280 ppm before the industrial revolution. Some scientists are worried that events will greatly expedite or irrevocability increase global warming. Burning fossil fuels to generate the electricity that fuels our lights, motors, and computers is a large source of greenhouse gas emissions. As the price of oil rises, alternative fuels become economically viable.
