ABSTRACT

Project management requires a multitude of skills, all of which are necessary for planning and executing successful projects. Soft skills without hard skills can cause the team to become complacent and inefficient, while hard skills without soft skills fosters an autocratic atmosphere giving the team no compulsion for personal achievement. Soft skills are interpersonal skills possessing personal attributes that are indicative of a high level of emotional intelligence, involving areas such as communication, leadership, motivation, patience, persuasion, negotiation and teamwork. Hard skills are specific, teachable abilities that can be defined and measured, such as in areas involving planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, risk management, project monitoring, contract management and project performance. Business productivity software is any application people use to produce, create or modify data or information. Most projects undergo changes from their originally intended configuration.
