ABSTRACT

The energy service company (ESCO) industry is plagued with slow sales cycles. Even if the prices of electrical and mechanical equipment and systems have been optimized, if operators do not use the systems efficiently, the ESCO is apt to fall short of its savings goal. Effective ESCOs with quality awareness programs will increase the likelihood of post-project savings. As ESCO managers become increasingly aware of the opportunities that exist throughout the customer’s operation, it becomes clear that there are other opportunities on the horizon—beyond energy per se. The opportunities for ESCO financial gains through water management are obvious. Considering conditions similar to the water management example, ESCOs have before them a number of related services they can incorporate into their offerings. The economics and the growing need have all the markings of an ESCO opportunity in the making. Some ESCOs have added this service to their arsenal when the economics favored it.
