ABSTRACT

Many manufacturers have a five-year warranty, but if the customer pays an extra 5–10% extra up front, the manufacturer usually double the warranty to ten years, usually a very good value for the customer. No matter the warranty length, it is important to read what the warranty covers and does not cover. Numerous companies offer LED kits for the existing incumbent technology of exterior fixtures. Numerous exterior fixture manufacturers are now including LED options in their existing exterior fixture models and offer LED kits for their older, similar fixtures. LED was often not that good for replacing 400 and higher wattage HPS or MH because so many LEDs are needed to provide sufficient light, which jacks up the cost. Many sales people and others often compare a brand new LED, CMH, LEP, or induction fixture or kit with existing fixtures, which typically have old lamps, dirty reflectors, and dirty lenses; the samples often look good in comparison.
