ABSTRACT

The immense power contained in nuclear fuels is the greatest advantage of nuclear power generation and the reason for its wide spread use. It is, however, also its biggest fault. Firewood is the best kept secret of the energy markets. It is one of the major energy sources used around the world, but very few of us are aware of its importance. Wood and wood products are also used for power generation, transport (in some countries), and making bio-fuels. This makes wood a versatile; multi-use and multi-purpose raw material. Nuclear power is a huge industry with even huger market. There are dozens and hundreds of government bodies and private, companies, factories, and organizations (technical, environmental, legal, financial, etc.) involved in the entire life cycle of the nuclear power generation, distribution, and use. Hydroelectric power plants produce electricity by using a power source to turn a turbine, which then spins an electric generator that produces electricity.
