ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the process of carrying out a valuation. It then describes the five main methods of valuation. Detailed valuation methodology and numerical examples are not included as there are many specific valuation texts that provide this and some of these are listed at the end of the chapter.

As in the previous chapter, there are many RICS guidance notes and professional statements referred to that were in force at the time of writing. You should be aware that these are constantly being reviewed and updated to reflect changes in the valuation environment so you will need to check with the RICS website for the most recent edition.
