ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at the wide range of professionals employed in real estate and the role of other stakeholders forming a key part of the sector. It considers who real estate people are, what they do, who regulates (controls and monitors) them, what laws and professional standards apply to them, and how their roles might be connected.
The chapter also considers the function of professional bodies, with a focus on the RICS, and it provides useful links for further reading. Most of these organisations have news and advice sections on their websites to help readers to become familiar with professional guidance, to keep up to date with developments in the sector and with issues relevant to real estate and the people involved.
