ABSTRACT

This chapter contains clinical cases based on neuroanaesthesia, neuroradiology and neurocritical care, with a focus on topics that come up often in the Primary and Final examinations. The topics include the treatment of subarachnoid haemorrhage; management of cerebral aneurysms; tetanus; Parkinson’s disease; epilepsy; posterior fossa surgery; the implications of chronic spinal cord injury on the conduct of anaesthesia; and how to conduct an awake craniotomy. Within these cases, more general concepts are also discussed such as total intravenous anaesthesia and critical incidents, including the management of an air embolus.
