ABSTRACT
This chapter contains clinical cases that focus on the assessment and management of the airway within anaesthetics, looking specifically at topics that come up often in the Primary and Final examinations. The topics include obstructive sleep apnoea, rheumatoid arthritis, acute airway obstruction and anaesthesia for laryngectomy. Within these cases, more general concepts are also discussed including LASER and videolaryngoscopes. The scoring systems and tests used within airway assessment are detailed as these are frequently asked about in the viva examinations. In addition, investigations that can be used for further evaluation of the airway are included in the cases.
