ABSTRACT

Some systemic drugs have acquired delayed-type hypersensitivity, as demonstrated by positive patch tests, only by cross-reactivity to other systemically administered pharmaceuticals: these drugs have not caused hypersensitivity reactions from their actual use in humans. They are shown in table 6.1, mentioning also the (probable) primarily sensitizing drugs to which they cross-reacted, number of cross-reacting patients, concentration and vehicle used for patch testing and references. These cross-reacting drugs are shown here, as they are sometimes very hard or impossible to find by database searches. The author came across these data while writing this book; a full review of the subject was not attempted.
