ABSTRACT

Neticonazole is used in Japan as a topical antifungal drug for the treatment of superficial skin infections. Patch testing with lanoconazole ointment and lanoconazole was positive. Patch testing with other imidazoles including neticonazole was negative at that time. He then started using neticonazole ointment, but, 4 months later, he again developed dermatitis on the feet. Patch testing now was positive to neticonazole ointment and neticonazole and diethyl sebacate, an emulsifier in neticonazole ointment. A 39-year-old woman developed dermatitis on the inner feet and soles, where she had applied neticonazole cream for 18 months. Patch tests were positive to the cream 'as is' and to neticonazole 1% and 0.5% pet., but negative to 0.1% pet. Eleven other imidazole antifungal creams were also tested and the patient had a positive reaction to sulconazole cream, but this was considered to be a cross-reaction. A 38-year-old man had started using 1% neticonazole cream for tinea pedis.
