ABSTRACT

This chapter analyzes the available research work reported by the researchers in the form of research solutions, case studies, surveys, experimental work to establish state of being, report phenomena involved, report constituent activities or to compare existing works. Hindle reports the methodology that software developers of mobile applications (smartphone or tablet) can employ to investigate if the new change request has potential threat of increasing battery consumption. Fernandes et al. emphasizes the need for evaluation of the performance of mobile application to provide the best experience to the users. Good experience represents the high level of customer satisfaction and depends on high performance of the application. Orsini et al. classified the mobile cloud computing applications into availability, portability, scalability, usability, maintainability and security (considering the ISO criteria for software quality as baseline). The guidelines are also provided to developers for designing mobile cloud computing mobile applications.
