ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 presents detailed analysis of dual notched-band characteristics in UWB antennas. Due to increasing demand for high data rate and low power consumption, researchers are looking forward to find optimal solutions that produce optimal results. Therefore, the UWB system provides better solution for short-range communication with high data rate and low power consumptions, but suffers from narrow-band interference. Thus, the existence of narrow-band frequencies within the UWB frequency band causes serious interfering problems. Consequently, to reduce the effect of interferences, various rejection techniques such as slotted geometries, parasitic stubs, and electromagnetic bandgap structures-based rejection techniques are commonly used, which are discussed in this chapter.
