ABSTRACT

The focus of Chapter 4 is to study and analyze the multi band-notched ultra-wide band (UWB) antennas and their different band-notching techniques. Thus, in order to increase the applicability of UWB antennas and reduce the probability of potential interference from narrow-band communication systems, the UWB antennas with triple and multiband-notched characteristics are discussed in this chapter. However, the interferences cause serious degradation in antenna performance, which is overcome by introducing different slotted geometries over radiating patches and/or in ground planes, or by incorporating parasitic stubs/slits near the radiators. Finally, electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures are also being used for realizing notched-band characteristics in UWB antennas, which are also reported in this chapter.
